Design Story offers a curated selection of timeless and contemporary furniture, lighting, and accessories. Since its establishment in 2014, Design Story has been exclusively distributing designer furniture that value the importance of sustainability and accessibility. This goes hand in hand with their belief that good design should be made accessible to everyone. They are the official dealer of the brands HAY, Stellar Works, and &Tradition in the Philippines.

Tell us something about the brands that you carry and a little history about the brands (and maybe about how you ended up carrying them in the local market)

HAY is a Danish brand dedicated to creating contemporary furniture that combines sophisticated manufacturing techniques with straightforward, functional, and aesthetic design. It continues to collaborate with some of the most talented, curious and courageous designers all over the world such as Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Hee Welling, GamFratesi, and Doshi Levien, among others, to create inspired works in both furniture and accessories alike.

Founded in 2002, HAY has since grown and produced notable pieces of quality that are able to work both in retail and in contract projects. These pieces include the Hay About A Collection, Palissade Outdoor Collection, and Mags Sofa Collection, to name a few. Latest furniture pieces also include the Hay Pandarine sofa, Arbour sofa, Dorso armchair, and an extension to the Soft Edge collection, among others.

Stellar Works aims to inspire a renaissance and to create timeless designs by taking fragments of Asian aesthetics, forms, and styles and filtering them through the lens of European tradition. Through transparent sourcing and manufacturing, Stellar Works offers clients an assurance of integrity and a demonstrable commitment to sustainability.

&Tradition (pronounced as AndTradition) pays homage to Denmark’s long-standing design heritage. From reissuing design icons to creating furniture, lighting, and accessories with timeless appeal, &Tradition bridges old and new and combines it with careful craftsmanship, producing pieces with purpose and meaning. Always respectful. Always made to last. 

Spanning decades of timeless design icons, some of the most iconic &Tradition mid-century gems include Verner Panton’s Flowerpot lamp, which was first produced in the late 1960s, and Arne Jacobsen and Flemming Lassen’s Mayor sofa. Alongside these are a number of contemporary pieces of some of today’s most acclaimed international designers such as Jaime Hayon and Space Copenhagen - to name a few.

What makes these brands premium and desirable to our clients?

The brands that we carry present the very definition of contemporary post-modern design: premium at an attainable value without sacrificing material integrity. Designer furniture was previously pegged as extremely aspirational, but since the introduction of brands such as HAY, Stellar Works, and AndTradition, the industry has recognized that quality design and creativity can be made to reach more people.

Service-wise, what can clients expect?

Upon entering either of our showrooms (in BGC or in Makati), clients could already be treated to a fun sensory experience. We try to play around as much as we can with our displays, to showcase the fun and creative designs everybody gets to enjoy through the brands. In their own unique ways, all the items were made for each other. 

We pride ourselves in having well-rounded creative individuals that form our team. All of which are capable and have their own differing design backgrounds, making us fully-equipped to assist in as much as we can.

Moreover, empathy is a core value of the company and it is integral to how we handle our clients from the first touch point to well after the client has taken home their beloved pieces. Customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to us, and make sure we are there when our clients need our assistance.
