Studio Soliven and the Art of Rugs

We’ve always been a believer of what a well designed area rug can do to a room. It helps define and tie up a room nicely while giving it that extra warmth we want to come home to. Studio Soliven has helped us make homes become beyond ordinary.

We’ve asked Marco Soliven, owner of Studio Soliven, a few questions to help us get to know a little more about them.

Hi, Marco! Can you tell us how Studio Soliven came to be?

The company was really first about photography.  I loved photography, so I used to take photos and turn them into art prints.

During that time, since I used to work for a different carpet company, I would still get inquiries from previous clients. But I couldn’t offer them any products since that company already closed shop, so what I used to do was just pass those inquiries to other suppliers. Then one day I thought, “Why not give it a try?”

So from there I started working on designs, and sending emails to my old contacts. I didn't want it to be the usual carpet company, so I incorporated my love for art and photography to the rugs. Most of the designs that we make came from my photos. And since this was pretty much our direction, to incorporate art in rugs, it was a no-brainer to get in touch with Solenn to collaborate with us!

How has the local market reacted to the brand?

We have received positive comments and DMs, which has been flattering of course.

It makes me happy to see that people are seeing rugs as a centerpiece now and not just a regular item to add.  We want to create something different every time instead of just supply ordinary rugs that you can get anywhere.

How about their reaction to Solenn's designs, which are brighter and bolder compared to what's usually in the market?

Solenn loves colors, which is why she is the perfect fit for us as well. She is not afraid to try new things and new color combinations which is truly a work of an artist.

I find it pretty cool, too, how some people actually put the rugs on the walls. Haha!

How is your company coping with the current situation?

Well, right now, we are trying different ways to get in touch with people through Google Meet, Zoom, and Instagram. To avoid physical contact, we are also taking orders via fund transfer and online payments.

Since we are already allowed to operate, we have had a few site meetings already, but of course, our staff is always required to wear a mask and to do social distancing. For our staff who don't have cars, we make sure to pick them up and drop them off to the site to make sure they don't have unnecessary contact with a lot of people.

For those who still don't want to meet, we ask them to send photos of their space, and we add the rug there so they can visualize before ordering.

Do you have new products or solutions that can address some of the concerns relevant to the times?

We are currently in product development for easy to clean washable rugs! So it'll be good for those with pets as well!

That’s awesome! Are you collaborating or planning to collaborate with new people now for new designs/collections?

Yes, it is in the works, but it’s a secret for now!!

We can hardly wait for that!  So, how can people reach you if they want their own Studio Soliven rugs?

They can reach us on Instagram @studiosoliven or via email hello@studiosoliven.com

Studio Soliven doesn’t just see rugs as ordinary pieces, but rather, as the main  focus of a space. They see and treat rugs as art pieces. Some people may look at rugs as non-essential furnishing, but rugs add so much character, texture, and color to a home. That is why they pride themselves in making art pieces. And that is why Studio Soliven is truly Beyond Ordinary.
