Styling with Indoor Plants: A Map to Decorating Your Home

Being a “plantita” or “plantito” is the trend for 2020. There, there have been many people posting about their journey with their plants throughout the pandemic. Last August 21, 2020, Hurray Design released a video of a webinar featuring Danika Navarro-Aguilar and IDr. Val Sioson to help you better style your indoor plants per Hurray theme. So keep on reading to find out how to do just that!

First off, let’s see the benefits of owning plants. Not known to most, indoor air can be more polluted than outdoor air because of the lack of circulation. Plants such as Peace Lilies, Snake Plants, Areca Palms, Pothos, Dracaenas, and Chinese Evergreens will help purify your indoor air. Other benefits include: boost in productivity by 10-20%, improvement in overall health, helps people with allergies, and enhances holistic well-being.

Second of all, give your plants some TLC! Taking care of your plants is an essential job—research on the type of plant you have and figure out their needs. The three most important factors in caring for plants are light, water, and grooming. These factors will help your plant grow healthy and strong and styling your home with them.

Now, let’s check out the different Hurray Design themes and choose which suits you the best.

1. Contemporary Minimalist - a Scandinavian-Japanese aesthetic that focuses on simplicity and functionality. Use plants that have a minimalistic look (ex. the rubber plant) to help spruce up a corner space.

2. Modern Functional - a clean and functional aesthetic, crisp, and easy-to-maintain interiors. For this neutral and open space, a snake plant placed on a coffee table is an excellent way of adding a little touch of color to this theme.

3. Modern Tropical - for all the coastal theme fans, this design uses tropical plants (ex. bamboo) and local wood finishes. Ventilation is the priority for this look and the best plant to achieve this theme is the Palmera plant.

4. Asian Contemporary - a combination of local and oriental elements, are well known in premium hotels in the Philippines. Maximize your space by using propagating vessels as wall décor for your wall plants!

5. Casual Eclectic - a quirky and colorful palette, perfect for a positive vibe. Having plants on your bedside table, on your dresser, and even on your vanity will add more colors and peace of mind into your personal space. Put your plants into line-art pots or any designed pots to give more personality to your room.
