#Hurray Tips: Using Rugs to Elevate Your Space
In Interior Design, a rug has the ability to completely transform any space. They're a great addition to simple walls, great for sound absorption and floor protection, as well as aesthetically pleasing pieces.
Today, Hurray’s Schematic and FF&E Team Lead, IDr. Gen Arceo, PIID, sits down with us to share some tips on how to use rugs for your spaces.
Cohesion & Visual Impact
As rugs connect spaces, use them to unify and create a visual connection between two spaces, especially in an open floor plan by using a similar style or color of rugs.
You may also use rugs to create impact by layering! This works best especially when you have a large space to fill in and can't find readily available rugs in the right size. You can play with layers and angles to create a visual impact in your space.
Choosing the Rug for You
You may use rugs as a starting point to figure out what color you want for a certain area or space. Rugs are also a great way to introduce patterns to neutral spaces and can provide your room with a sense of character and personality.
Rugs should wrap around your furniture pieces to find the best fit! Avoid the floating rug in the center of your room. Ideally, the rug you choose should be large enough to fit under all four legs of each piece of furniture.
Feeling Experimental?
Hang your rug as art. Rugs have become works of art in their own right and if you happen to come across one that's just too good to step on, then maybe consider hanging it on your wall.
